The Cost of Working
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

As you contribute every month to your 401(k) (find out more at Crediful), you've probably asked yourself, "Do I have enough to retire?" But perhaps you should be asking, "How much am I paying to work?" After all, maintaining a career -- and the lifestyle that often accompanies it -- isn't free. How much is work costing you?

Life in the Slow Lane
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

When we left the working world, we landed ourselves on the tiny island nation of Nevis, West Indies. It was there that we experienced this very slow lifestyle pace daily. It helped us break out of our over-the-top-stress way of life that we were buried in. Once in a upscale restaurant on this island of Nevis, we ordered two hamburgers. They made one full hamburger order, delivered it, then proceeded to begin to make the other. One at a time was all they could handle. We adapted.

How to Choose a Retirement Location
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

So you and your spouse have decided to retire. At some point in your retirement planning you must ask yourself where you would like to spend your Golden Years. The following questions and insight should place you on the right path for finding just the location that suits your needs.

VIDEO - Let's Get in the Water Chacala, Mexico

Let's step into the ocean at Chacala Beach and take a look around. Tiny town of Chacala, Mexico gets swamped on weekends and holidays, but during the week, it's ours! Water is warm, and the beach is clean. Check it out!

Tikal Ruins, Guatemala

One of the major sites of Mayan civilization, inhabited from the 6th century B.C. to the 10th Century A.D., lies in the heart of the jungle surrounded by lush vegetation. This is Tikal, in Guatemala

Simplifying Investing for Financial Independence
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

As 2018 is in the books, I thought I would look back financially to where we started this adventure, from January of 1991. The chart below shows the ascent of the S&P 500 Index over our 28 years of retirement.

Beach Vendors in Mazatlan, Mexico
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Throughout Mexico, it's a traditional scene to have beach vendors selling items on the beach. The good part of this, is that you needn't go anywhere for snacks, fruit or even hot food -- It all comes to you! Below is a short peek into this enjoying this beach convenience in Mazatlan.

Real Investment Report
Lance Roberts

The Case For 3300 - It only took eighteen-months longer than expected, but the markets finally reached 3000 on the S&P 500 index this past week. “What do you mean ‘expected?’ You are always bearish.”  I am just going to save our “reading impaired” individuals some time by reminding them of what I wrote in January of 2018: “While the record-breaking pace is certainly breathtaking, it should not be surprising as we discussed in the June 9th, 2017 edition of the weekly newsletter.

VIDEO - The Beach Is Yours!

A Peaceful Morning Chacala, Mexico Finishing up our El Chepe train trip and going down the Mexico Pacific Coast, we take a few days to unwind here on Chacala Beach in Mexico. Hardly a soul on the beach, it's like your own private place. Hear the birds calling and the waves crashing on the shore.

Confidence is created in the mind and is completely under your control. Outside influences do not enter into the equation. You cannot fool yourself into having it if you don’t truly believe it and, rest assured, there will always be many around trying to destroy it by claiming practicality. In all honesty, being sensible and realistic is a dream killer. Add to that, if your dreams are dead, so will be your joy. - Frederic da Silva

Money Never Sleeps
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Just because you retire, your money doesn’t have to. In the words of Gordon Gecko from the 1987 movie Wall Street, “money never sleeps.” And your money definitely won’t once you leave your job. Many people are shocked to learn that since we left the conventional work force almost thirty years ago our net worth has actually increased, significantly out-pacing inflation and spending. Reading financial articles about what if retirees run out of money, I get the impression that the authors do not understand that once retired, your money can - and should - continue to work for you.

Jinghong, China -  Tiny steps into a Massive Country
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Billy and I often spoke of visiting China; it took us years to actually line up the dots to do it. This time, conveniently there was an "excuse". Wanting to experience the Chinese version of Song Kran, a water splashing festival known throughout Asia, we heard that this smallish city offered Dragon boat races, parades and a shortened time span during which these festivities took place.

Why We Took Social Security at Age 62 - Update
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

We decided to take Social Security at age 62. We know there are as many ways to consider this decision as there are days in a year. And many experts advise against taking social security “early” so that you get a bigger check at full retirement age. It is hard to argue against that. We have always lived an unconventional lifestyle and the fact that so many experts agree on waiting for payment gives us pause for thought. Here is our logic.

The Fish Market - Mazatlan, Mexico
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Visiting Mazatlan, Mexico is always a delight. This time we were coming from Culiacan, after a fun trip on the El Chepe train from Chihuahua to El Fuerte. One of the best things we love about being on the beach is the seafood! Take a look at this short pictorial of the fish market in Mazatlan, Mexico.

VIDEO - A Weekday at Chacala Beach, Mexico

During the week, Chacala Beach is more likely to be a quiet haven for locals. This is how we like it the best! Listen to the waves and to children laughing in what could seem to be your own private beach.

Flying High over Oaxaca - AeroVega Our "Private" Flight from Oaxaca, Mexico to Puerto Escondido and back to Oaxaca City
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

We decided to take a mini-break from our lives in Panajachel, Guatemala and flew to the city of Oaxaca, Mexico. We had been here before in years past, and really enjoyed the beauty of the Historico Centro of the city, not to mention its wide variety of restaurants, mescalerias, museums and shops. Yet... the beach called us.

Confessions of a World Traveler

On occasion we meet people who say “I could never live the life you live; Traveling all the time, not having a permanent home, missing out on families and holiday celebrations…” Sometimes it’s hard to read their faces and I have tired of justifying our lifestyle. One perfect way to live?
