Retire Early Lifestyle is a content based website that appeals to a different kind of person - the person who prizes their independence, values their time, and who doesn't want to mindlessly follow the crowd.

My husband and I love your inspiration to retire early and that is what we are gearing up to do. This June my husband is retiring at 54. We have a daughter getting married this year and the other one will be a senior in college and they can’t believe we are doing it as well as our family and friends. The past 4 months we have sold my car so we are sharing 1 vehicle and we sold our 4200 square foot house and moved to our 700 square foot cabin in the mountain. We see how easy it is with just these few changes and we are loving life. Of course, we are debt free but the best part is that our daughters are getting it and they are preparing themselves financially so they will be able to do it themselves.

We hope to meet up with you one day!  - Susan D.

Real Investment Report
Lance Roberts

Bull Rallies & Market Tops - Last week, we discussed the fulfillment of our expectations for a bull rally. While the rally was attributed to the rather “dovish” stance taken by Jerome Powell and commentary from the White House on potential progress on resolving the “trade war” with China. The reality is it had little to do with those headlines but was simply a reversal of the previous “exhaustion extreme” of sellers during November and December. The rally, as we laid out two weeks ago, continues to work within the expected range back to 2650-2700.

When Is Enough Money Enough? How Do You Just Stop Working?
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

I have a question, and I’m sure you have heard this many times before, how do you know when enough is enough? I mean, my investments would cover my expenses, at least if I stick to the 4% rule but how did you come to pull the trigger and just stop?

Want to Learn about Retirement? Go to the Source
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Recently we have read articles on retirement in general - and early retirement in particular - in notable publications. What strikes us odd is that the authors might interview one retiree, and then three or four “financial experts” describing the risks that retirement entails. We are told over and

Maneuvering through Medical Events Overseas
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

When it comes to navigating health care issues in a foreign country, lots of travelers or would-be Expats have a legitimate concern over the language barrier. While there is a possibility that you could find yourself in the backwaters of Vietnam, in a lonely village in the mountains of China or Tibet, or spending the night in a hill tribe pueblo reachable only by rickety bridges, chances are you...

Tequila, The Finer Pleasures
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

It is safe to say that most people don't know the history of Mexico's national drink, tequila. Nor do they know that the valley town of Tequila is 50km northwest of Guadalajara, making it an easy daytrip from the capital of Mexico's state of Jalisco. A popular image surrounding this beverage is one of charros, desperados, shoot 'em ups and heavy machismo.

Is It Work or Is It Passion?
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

While taking a break from the sun and surf, relaxing in my hotel room in a tiny beach town on Mexico’s rugged Pacific Coast, my cell phone rang. ‘Howdy, Beautiful!’ my friend of four decades shouted from snow country, thousands of miles away. "Been watchin’ your website for years and I read all your stories. Love ‘em. But I thought you were retired!" How many times over the decades since we left the conventional work force have we heard that challenge? Our responses have ranged from surprised silence to justification of our volunteer work, to just laughing out loud.

Living Off the Grid - Xcalak, Yucatan, Mexico
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Some folks who had read our Adventurer's Guide to Early Retirement invited us to visit them while we were in the “neighborhood” - meaning the Yucatan peninsula. We have never been to the southern area of Mexico where they live, so we jumped on the opportunity. Instructed to meet Jon at 100% Agave, a well known local joint in Mahahual, we entered a Jimmy Buffet style bar-restaurant with beach sand as the floor.

Exotic Travel on $53 a Day
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Years ago, we never would have guessed that by age 57, we'd be journeying for more than 100 days through the Mexican Pacific Coast, on into the volcanic heart of Guatemala, enjoying the beach and laid-back island life of Belize, and partaking in the Mayan style of living in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. What's more, we found a way to do it that was amazingly affordable.

Paul and Vicki Terhorst Interview

We met up again with Paul and Vicki Terhorst in the northern city of Chiang Mai, Thailand on our latest trip to Asia, and there was lots of catching up to do. The world has changed, and we have all added a few years onto our count, bringing in different concerns so we asked them if they would mind doing an update interview. Fantastically, they said yes.
